He directed many classic shows and co-created several television series. He co-created “The Patty Duke Show” with Sidney Sheldon, and he created and produced “Bewitched,” a sitcom starring Elizabeth Montgomery. Asher is the director of many films, including “The Thin Man” (1964), “The Danny Thomas Show” (1965), and “The Crazy Ones” (2001).
Asher’s career began at Universal Studios, where he worked as an assistant cameraman. In 1948, he co-directed “Leather Gloves” with Cameron Mitchell and Richard Quine. After a brief hiatus from filmmaking, he focused on television. In the 1950s, he directed “Big Town” (with Annette Funicello), “Racket Squad” (1951), and “The 27th Day (1952), a crude cold-war science-fiction drama.
Asher was born in New York on Aug. His father was a film producer who produced the 1931 classic “Frankenstein.” His mother Betty Asher worked as Judy Garland’s publicist at MGM. Asher’s parents separated when he was 11 years old. His mother suffered from alcoholism and rages. He eventually moved back to New York with his mother.
Asher’s success in establishing Lucid Entertainment was not immediate, but he did expand his company to restaurants, bars, and live music venues. Asher’s background in finance and administration allowed him to build a foundation for economic success. His nightclubs became famous and lucrative. He worked with many stars from the music and film industry.

Asher’s multi-acre estate near Montecito was damaged Bill Asher by mudslides during the 2018 mudslides. Despite the damage, he continues to live in the home. And he continues to invest in music and movies. He has a diverse clientele, including hundreds of musicians and many collectors.
Bill Asher began his service with SALSA by mentoring other volunteers. Later, he became a fixture of the monthly Veterans’ Legal Advice Clinics. He later expanded these clinics to weekly sessions at the Veterans’ Outreach and Transition Center. He has provided valuable legal advice to veterans on a range of civil legal issues. Many of his former clients stay in touch with him long after their cases are settled. During the holidays, they often send him cards and holiday greetings.
